Your contract of employment will be to support the client in this advert only. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period.
Vacancy Summary:
This vacancy is for a female Personal Care Assistant in the Stowmarket, Suffolk area. 13 hours per week. These hours can be flexible, mostly needed on Wednesday and Saturdays. Full details to be discussed at interview. Pay rate: £11.50 per hour, £17.25 Bank Holidays, £23.00 Christmas.
About the Client and Support Needed:
I live at home with my husband. I am very creative and have many interests. I love arts & crafts, flower arranging, gardening and decorating. I would like assistance in visiting local craft fairs, historical buildings, car boot sales and other places I find of interest. I like to exercise and try to keep fit and healthy, so I would like someone to accompany me to my gym. I require support at home and in the local community, ensuring I can carry out day to day activities as independently as possible.
As a member of our caring team, you’ll be responsible for a wide range of tasks that can vary by the day, so an amount of flexibility is required. You will need to be reliable, caring, supportive and respectful. You must have excellent communication skills and work in line with the set policies and procedures in place. Some of the main duties include:
- Maintain safe surroundings as the client is at risk of seizures.
- With consent, be close-by when the client is showering in case she has a seizure during this period.
- Try to be within close proximity of the client to listen out for potential seizures i.e. be in the kitchen when she is getting breakfast etc.
- Cook hot meals for the client when requested by the client
- Be around and observant of signs of a seizure
- Respond appropriately during seizures and step in if she is danger of injury or harm
- Assist the client to attend and take part in activities that she enjoys such as; gardening, crafts, shopping, garden centres, craft fairs, walks etc.
- Drive the client to and from appointments / activities as and when needed.
We are looking for an out-going, friendly, organised PA and ideally someone who has experience with Epilepsy. The right candidate will be somebody who is enthusiastic, caring, has excellent communication skills, is patient and a reliable team player. You will be friendly and dynamic with a strong personality and common sense. You will need to be adaptable in the role and responsive to our client’s needs, always demonstrating a person-centred approach. It is desirable for applicants to have previous experience in the care sector. This can be either paid or voluntary work and family care experience can be considered.

You will be trained to CQC standards to meet the needs of the client. Current care experience and ‘already known to the client’ will be valued. Unless specified elsewhere, previous care experience is not essential.
Essential Requirements for this Role:
- This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 – there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female support workers only.
- A full, valid UK driving license is required. It is preferable that applicants have their own suitable vehicle to take the client out.
