Your contract of employment will be to support the client in this advert only. All of our contracts are for permanent positions with a 6 month probationary period.
Vacancy Summary:
This vacancy is for a Personal (Care) Assistant / Intervenor to join our clients support package for 30-40 hours per week in the St Andrews area of Bristol. The hours of work will be daytime hours including some weekends so you must be flexible.
About the Client and Support Needed:
Our client is a young 32 year old gentleman with a brain injury and multi-sensory impairment (MSI). You will join his support team to promote positive potential benefits for him, giving him the security he needs to access information, communicate and safely access his environment.
You will provide support to enable effective communication and the reception of clear information. Your support will enable our client to take full advantage of learning, vocational and social experiences/activities, thereby allowing fuller access and social interaction / outings in his community and the world.
You will liaise closely with the family and professionals involved in our clients day to day life and deliver a daily exercise regime based on his physiotherapy programme. The aim is to increase our client’s confidence, encourage friendships and ensure his days are full of gainful and exciting experiences.
You will encourage him to do things for himself such as food preparation and general day to day home based activities such as cleaning, washing clothes and planning his day but the emphasis of this role is to be a dependable, confident, fun and caring support worker to our client and will ensure that good communication is at the heart of everything.

You will be trained to CQC standards to meet the needs of the client. Current care experience and ‘already known to the client’ will be valued. Unless specified elsewhere, previous care experience is not essential.
Essential Requirements for this Role:
- It is essential that you have an understanding of the complexity and implications of multi-sensory impairment
- You will need to be a sensitive and effective communicator
- You will have good IT skills and keep up to date with the use of technology including being competent with the use of iPads and VOCA’s
- You will have BSL Level 1 or be willing to undertake training
- Experience in / or willing to be trained in Makaton and hand-under-hand signing
- You must be a driver with a full, UK driving licence
