HomeCareDirect Tackles 100 Miles in October for Autism Awareness

At HomeCareDirect, our commitment to supporting individuals and families extends far beyond the care we deliver every day.
This October, members of our Head Office team are coming together to take part in the National Autistic Society’s “100 Miles in October” fundraising challenge.
The event invites people across the UK to walk, run, cycle, or wheel 100 miles throughout October, all while raising money to help create a society that works for autistic people.
For us, it’s not only an opportunity to get active and boost wellbeing, but also a meaningful way to show solidarity with the autistic community and raise awareness of the challenges many families face.
Why This Challenge Matters
Autism affects more than 700,000 people in the UK. Many autistic individuals and their families experience barriers to education, employment, healthcare, and social opportunities. The National Autistic Society works tirelessly to provide support, campaign for better services, and create greater public understanding.
By stepping up to this challenge, our Head Office team hopes to make a small but important contribution towards these efforts.
Every mile covered and every pound raised will help fund services, resources, and advocacy for autistic people nationwide.
Our Team’s Commitment
Some of our Head Office colleagues have pledged to collectively clock up the miles throughout October, whether that’s during lunchtime walks, weekend park runs, evening bike rides, or even pushing ourselves a little further on the commute.
The idea is simple: stay consistent, stay active, and keep the goal in sight.
We know that 100 miles in a single month is no small feat, especially when balanced with work and family life.
But we also know that by supporting each other, tracking our progress, and keeping the purpose at the heart of what we’re doing, we’ll get there together.
Inspiring Healthy Habits
Taking part in “100 Miles in October” isn’t just about fundraising.
It’s also about inspiring healthy habits across our team and showing that small daily steps add up to big achievements.
Regular movement benefits physical health, boosts mental wellbeing, and creates a sense of connection when shared as a group effort.
We’ll be sharing updates on our journey throughout the month, from tired feet and funny moments to personal milestones and the collective satisfaction of making progress.
Keep an eye on our channels for stories, photos, and mile counts as we move closer to our target.
Together, we can create more understanding, support, and opportunities for autistic people and their families.
Here’s to every mile walked, wheeled, cycled, or run this October, all for an amazing cause.
