Supporting the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap
As a provider of NHS-funded care services, HomeCare Direct is committed to supporting the NHS Net Zero Supplier Roadmap. We are working towards aligning our operations with the NHS ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2045 for the NHS Carbon Footprint Plus, which includes the supply chain.
Sustainable Service Delivery
Our personalised care model inherently supports sustainability objectives. By recruiting care teams locally — often from within the client's own community — we significantly reduce the travel distances associated with care delivery. This approach not only improves continuity and quality of care but also minimises transport-related carbon emissions.
Our Environmental Impact
We have measured our baseline carbon emissions and are committed to transparency in our reporting. Key areas of our environmental footprint include:

Our Current Actions
We are taking the following steps to reduce our environmental impact:
- Measuring and reporting our carbon emissions annually
- Prioritising local recruitment to reduce care-related travel
- Transitioning to digital-first processes to reduce paper use
- Reviewing procurement practices to favour sustainable suppliers
- Encouraging remote working where appropriate to reduce commuting
- Working towards a formal Carbon Reduction Plan aligned with PPN 06/21
Governance & Accountability
Sustainability is overseen at board level, with responsibility for environmental performance integrated into our governance framework. We are committed to regular review and continuous improvement of our environmental practices, and we will update this statement annually to reflect our progress.
