It’s been a whirlwind few months for Racheal, her mum Helen, carer and best friend Summer, as they’ve journeyed across the UK on “Racheal’s Wheely Amazing Gap Year”. 

From exploring Scotland’s northern coast in Up and Over to Thurso to discovering the beauty and history of Onward to Orkney, every stop has been filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories.

We recently caught up with the trio near Manchester as they made their way home, fresh from their final UK stops before they take the next big leap, across the Atlantic to Canada! 
It was the perfect time to reflect on just how far they’ve come, both in miles and in experience.

Helen, Racheal’s mum, was determined 19 year old Racheal would enjoy the same kind of gap year experiences that many young people her age dream of. 

Supported by Summer, her adventures have been a reminder that with the right care and planning, the world really can be accessible to everyone.

Their journey through the UK has been about more than sightseeing. 
It’s been a celebration of inclusion, resilience, and friendship. 
From the bustle of cities to the calm of coastal paths, every part of the trip has brought its own set of challenges and triumphs, from navigating new environments to discovering new strengths in each other.

Whether tackling travel logistics or soaking up local stories, Racheal has embraced each experience with her usual humour and determination. 
Summer, too, has been a source of support and fun, helping to make every day an adventure worth remembering.
