Mental Health First Aiders
A cornerstone of this commitment is our investment in our own Mental Health First Aider.
This trained individual is a crucial line of support for our staff, offering a confidential and empathetic ear, and guiding colleagues towards appropriate resources when they're struggling.
One shining example of this dedication is our own Kath Baker, a trained Mental Health First Aider at HomeCareDirect.
This role poses a crucial line of support for our staff, offering a confidential and empathetic ear, and guiding colleagues towards appropriate resources when they're struggling.
Mental Health First Aiders are not therapists, but rather equipped to recognise the signs of mental distress and provide initial help and support.
Kath is there to listen without judgment, offer practical support, and signpost to professional help.
Her presence, and the presence of others like her, ensures that our teams know there's always someone within HomeCareDirect they can turn to.
This Men's Health Week, while we reflect on the broader societal importance of male well-being, we also want to acknowledge the incredible work being done internally to support our male (and female) colleagues. We believe that by creating a culture of openness and providing tangible support systems like our Mental Health First Aiders, we can contribute to a healthier, happier workforce, year-round.
Let's all take a moment this week to consider the men in our lives and encourage them to prioritise their health. And for our HomeCareDirect team, remember that support is always available, with dedicated colleagues like Kath ready to help.
Because a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body, and at HomeCareDirect, we're here to support both.

Prioritising Men's Health: A Week to Reflect, and Year-Round Support at HomeCareDirect
As we navigate the week of June 9th to 15th, 2025, our attention turns to an incredibly important observance: Men's Health Week. Championed by organisations like Mates in Mind, this annual event serves as a vital reminder to shine a spotlight on the unique health challenges men face, both physical and, crucially, mental.
Mates in Mind, well-known for their dedication to improving mental health in the workplace, especially within industries like construction, highlight through their Men's Health Week initiatives that true well-being encompasses far more than just physical fitness.
It's about encouraging open conversations, breaking down stigmas, and ensuring men feel empowered to seek support when needed.
This focus on proactive mental health support resonates deeply with how we approach the well-being of our own teams at HomeCareDirect. We understand that our dedicated care professionals, who provide invaluable support to individuals every day, are often working in demanding roles that can take a toll. That's why we're committed to fostering an environment where mental health is not just acknowledged but actively nurtured.
To raise awareness HomeCareDirect is inviting all its male staff at head office to go out for a pint (or soft drink) supported by HCD
Nice try ladies... But... NO! you can't come in...
